Because of this affair, his downfall is the people in the town were accused of witchcraft and were killed. His wife tried to protect him and failed so they both are in jail. In the book called, The Crucible, by Arthur Miller uses the character to shows flaws, that actions have consequences. The evil or vengeance a person wants to payback often has something that’ll come back to you if it’s done. Selfishness is one of the many evils in a man or a woman, perhaps is the worst.
